Destination: Port Aransas, TX -

As an avid outdoor enthusiast, I find myself searching for my next adventure travel destination on a regular basis.  If you are anything like me, you’ve probably spent hours on end scouring the internet trying to find the perfect place to escape your every day hustle and bustle.  I am happy to report that you need look no further than this article about Port Aransas, Texas.  Located on the peninsula just outside of Corpus Christi, Port Aransas has something for everyone.

Fishing & Boating
Whether its deep-sea fishing with a guide, fishing bays and channels with buddies, or casting a line off the piers with your family, the fishing capital of Texas has got you covered.  Known for its Redfish, Flounder, Black Drum, and Trout, this Texas fishing hotspot hosts dozens of tournaments throughout the year.  Its four lighted piers enable fans to fish all day and night - whether it is an early morning tournament castoff or end of the day weigh-in.  Spend quality time with the family by participating in fish fries or square dance  the night away on the pier.

Port Aransas welcomes boaters with open arms.  Feel free to bring your boat to launch at one of the marinas, or charter a boat while you are in town.  You’ll also find many boating excursions and sunset cruises that offer breathtaking views of Port Aransas from the Gulf of Mexico.

Bird Watching & Nature Exploration
There is no better way to watch birds than to get up close and personal.  Port Aransas has created an abundance of birding sites with that in mind.  Regardless if you are a seasoned birder or just starting out, you will be awe-struck by the hundreds of species in their natural and wintering habitats.  Places like Wetland Park, Joan & Scott Holt Paradise Pond, the South Jetty, and the Leona Belle Turnbull Birding Center – all stops on The Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail – give visitors a view of Mother Nature at its finest.

Another popular birding destination is Mustang Island which offers one of the highest bird counts anywhere on the Gulf Coast.  It has over five miles of beach coastline that the whole family can enjoy!  If you happen to visit in February, make sure you check out the Annual Celebration of Whooping Cranes & Other Birds.  Anyone who has ever thought about bird watching needs to put Port Aransas at the top of their list of “must visit” vacation spots.

Local Eateries
Some of the best restaurants on the entire Texas Gulf Coast can be found in Port Aransas.  With chefs well-versed in the art of island-style cooking, you are sure to find fresh seafood delights that will please your palate.  Most restaurants offer both indoor and outdoor seating so that you can take in the gorgeous scenery while you dine.  Many will even cook the fish you caught earlier that day!  This kind of southern hospitality is prevalent throughout Texas but even more so in this coastal paradise.

With its abundance of outdoor activity options, beautiful natural landscapes, and delicious cuisine, Port Aransas provides visitors the perfect setting to make memories that will last a lifetime.
