The "whiskers" in a Tiger Whiskers wind sensor consist of over 750 high-tech Kevlar micro-filaments. The micro-filaments naturally separate from one another, making them extremely sensitive to air currents. The whiskers are five times stronger than steel so they resist breaking and knotting, even if they become tangled in weeds, briars, clothing or gear.
For hands-free operation, Tiger Whiskers can be attached to virtually anything, including the barrel of a gun, a bow stabilizer, a tree stand or tree limb. Alternatively, the whiskers can be used in a hand-held manner, using their sturdy plastic carrying case as a handle.
On target First off, I was already doing something similar. I used to just tie a piece of thread to the end of my stabilizer and it worked alright. But since I've been using the new Tiger Whisker, I doubt I'll be digging in my grandma's sewing kit anymore.
When still-hunting or stalking, I found the hands-free operation invaluable in maintaining a downwind position from my prey. I appreciate the ability to know at all times where my scent is being carried by the wind. This allows me to focus my attention on the hunt and where I need to take my shot before the animal travels downwind.
Off target I have to say that the Tiger Whiskers wind sensor is a pretty flawless product. I am starting to hate this "Off target" part because products nowadays are so well designed. I suggest you use the product and let me know what you think. Myself, I would probably buy two packs for back up and don't forget where you place the pin shaped case.
