During the spring time, deer seem to have life made with the cool
temperatures and abundant forage. Ticks can really become a nuisance
to the wildlife. I have seen ticks on almost all the wildlife
including squirrels, raccoons, deer, foxes and other game. Some years
the ticks are plentiful and other years they are not as visible.
I
was hoping the 3 day deep freeze would have killed most of the ticks
this year. The ticks were very active in the 70 degree weather
preceding the deep freeze and somehow they survived that freak
weather freeze.
I believe the deer can bite off or scratch off
most of the ticks with their hoofs or rubbing on trees. The spots that
seem to collect most ticks are behind the ears and on their heads.
