This Wednesday was the scheduled float stocking of the Upper Androscoggin River from Gilead, Maine to Bethel. For those who haven't been out and noticed, the river is way too high. On Sunday in Bethel, the water was flirting with the tops of the banks in some locations.

Bill Pierce, public relations guru for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said that he didn't think it was a good idea to put some trout in the river only to see them end up in the Atlantic Ocean within a few hours.

The event will be rescheduled as soon as water levels drop. I am planning to attend the event and get some pictures etc. I will be going with Maine Fishing Today's chief photographer, Milt Inman.
