For the first time, the Matching Grant Program has been given additional funds for the fiscal year 2006-2007. The need for additional funds is due to the positive response from so many SCI Chapters across the nation supporting and funding some fantastic projects in the name of Safari Club International! This means that from April until June 30, this program has an extra $25,000 to help fund Education, Conservation, and Humanitarian projects for each Chapter that applies and qualifies for a Matching Grant.

Applying is very easy. Go to SCI\'s
website: www.safariclub.org, locate Chapter Services and click on the Matching Grant Application to print out the application form and the guidelines. Once the form has been completed, you can fax or mail it to Eva Wilson in the Tucson office. Please be sure to include proof of payment, as indicated in the guidelines.

Some of the fantastic educational projects
funded by the Matching Grants Program has helped fund SCI Orange County\'s Youth Outdoor Safari Day. This program is in its eighth year and continues to grow in popularity. The Big Brothers Big Sisters Pass It On – Outdoor Mentors Program supported by the SCI Chisholm Trail Chapter and the Annual Three-Day Elementary School Sensory Safari put on by SCI North Florida are great examples of how education and involvement in each local community promote the future of hunting and SCI.

Some great conservation projects
funded with Matching Grants have been the MIC Northern Lower Peninsula Marten Study and Bobcat Project, supported respectively by SCI Michigan and SCI Flint Regional. The Mojave Water Project for Guzzlers received support from SCI North San Joaquin Valley, and SCI Lakeshore Sportsmen funded the West Michigan \"Adopt a Stream\" Project. SCI Golden Gate supported internationally through the Conservation Assessment of Lions and other Wildcats in Ghana.

For a few awesome humanitarian projects,
the Susquehannock Chapter provided funds for the Annual Disabled Hunters Bird Hunt, SCI Central Ohio made a donation to the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons and SCI Utah Chapter funded a bison hunt for two paraplegic hunters.

These are just a few of the worthwhile
and heartfelt projects all the SCI Chapters continue to promote and support. Who says we as sportsman and hunters are not the Good Guys? Apply for your Matching Grant funds today to ensure that the sport we love will be there for tomorrow.
