Current elevation of Lake Sakakawea hovers at record low levels but is showing breaths of life. Despite drought conditions, access to the big water was fair to good this spring and summer. However, boaters must take the time to review boat ramp reports or make the appropriate contacts because lake levels continue to fluctuate and many ramps are becoming unusable and usable simotaneously. The access situation is unknown at this moment as construction is being planned, bid, and undertook to ensure the lake is accessible for this year\'s fall fishing season. At 1812.64 feet, the forecast for Sakakawea fishing remains very good. Health of fish caught thus far indicated mixed feelings on food supplys but the catch rate is expected to break last year\'s record.
In past weeks the Game & Fish, state, park boards, other groups and the Corp of Engineers had been working hard on several ramps. Most ramps are in usuable condition and anglers are having little trouble accessing the water. Now we need the water to warm up! Very, very soon!!
The Corp has provided Fishing Buddy Outdoors information regarding the ramps. Please note that the Corp cannot monitor each ramp daily so if anyone has futher information on any ramps listed or others that are not please send an email to tsandstrom@fishingbuddy.com
