Now is the time of the year when you should be seeing young fawns and young turkeys in your hunting grounds.  The does have the fawns with them more and more and the young turkey poults are getting big enough to travel significant distances.
The does are still reluctant to bring their fawns around the cameras but are starting to have the fawns follow them there.  The does are also very reluctant to bring the fawns out after dark.  Most of the fawn pictures at the cameras and sightings in the surrounding fields and woods will be in the daylight and mostly around noon time.  I would guess this is nature\'s way of protecting them from the nocturnal predators.
Turkey poults seem to be in short supply in our hunting grounds in Mid-MO and Kansas Friend also reports very few poult sightings.  The hard freeze wiped out most of the first hatch and the second hatch in Kansas has seen may torrential rains.  It remains to be seen what kind of turkey hatch is pulled off.  I would guess that a second hatch is not nearly as successful as the first hatch.
